Dymtro Guchko is a master hair stylist living in Saigon. Affectionately known as Dima, his hairdressing is about passion and experience as much as style and skill. Open to the moment, Dima has followed his dream and traveled the world as a result. A one-time hip-hop performer in the Ukraine (playing to crowds of 50,000 people) and pro-basketball player, Dima has already had an extraordinary life – something that his exuberant personality emits.
THE ARTIST
Dymtro Guchko is innovative and adventurous, creating what he calls the ‘new normal.’ For Dymtro, hairdressing is about more than a good cut – there is a philosophy behind his look good and feel good motto. Willing to take chances has led Dymtro on the road less traveled and carried him across the world. Currently creating his own brand in HCMC, Vietnam, Dymtro is focused on building a legacy that extends throughout Vietnam and beyond.
BORN FROM BASKETBALL
Dymtro was a high school and college basketball player, spending his teenage years living in the States. When a fellow player, devoid of funds to visit the local barbershop, asked him for a trim, Dymtro life path was set. A quick ‘shape up’ for one player quickly turned Dymtro into the team hair stylist!
TONI & GUY
Renowned international stylists Toni & Guy offered to train Dymtro in London. After his apprenticeship, he headed up Toni & Guy Ukraine. His mandate was to introduce new styles to the Tony & Guy program and teach the philosophy behind their highly specialised techniques. Discovering an innate strength in guidance, he was able to teach tricky theories and practices with patience and constructive criticism.
Yet to truly follow his own path, Dymtro decided to begin his own venture in Saigon, Vietnam. Opening A Cut Above Asia salon has propelled Dymtro into a whole new world creatively; challenging him to become a business leader and visionary. Without a doubt, Dima, as his friends know him, is an industry all unto himself. No one looks after your hair better – truly it is A Cut Above.
